Although a Northwest native, Jim previously spent 11 years in Southern California with United California Bank (Wells Fargo) and Security Pacific Bank managing various commercial banking teams.
He serves on the boards of the Washington Bankers Association (immediate past chairman), Western Independent Bankers Association, Bellevue LifeSpring (chair of the board) and the Advisory Board of Seattle University’s Albers School of Business and Economics. Previous board participation has included the Washington state chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society and Intiman Theatre in Seattle.
Jim earned a law degree from Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles, an MBA from the University of Washington, and an undergraduate degree from Seattle University.
Sean P. Brennan

Sean Brennan is one of the original organizers of Puget Sound Bank and has been part of the team that has built the Bank into one of the strongest commercial banks in the region. Sean currently serves as a member of Seattle University’s Planned Giving Committee and the St. Joseph School (Seattle) Endowment Board. Previously he served as a board member of the Downtown Emergency Service Center (DESC) and has volunteered as a coach for numerous youth sports teams. In addition, he and his family actively support several Seattle-based nonprofit agencies assisting those who have suffered homelessness, addiction and mental health challenges, and the indigenous poor in Central America and Mexico.
He earned his undergraduate degree in finance from Loyola Marymount University (Los Angeles).
Executive Vice President, Chief Credit Officer/Chief Operating Officer
Tony Chalfant joined Puget Sound Bank early in its formation, helping to define lending standards that have helped the Bank grow into one the strongest in the region. He began his career as a national bank examiner with the U.S. Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). This was followed by 21 years in commercial banking, which included serving as a senior vice president and team leader with U.S. Bank in their commercial banking division. » Read More
He is a current member of the Eastside Business Roundtable, Bellevue Chamber of Commerce’s senior leadership group. Previously he served as a board member of the Bellevue Boys and Girls Club and is a former member of the Bellevue Art Museum Board of Trustees.
Tony graduated from Washington State University with a degree in finance/economics and from the Pacific Coast Banking School at the University of Washington.
Philip I. Mitterling

He began his career with Seafirst Bank/Bank of America, working there for 16 years in various accounting, finance, and treasury functions. He left Bank of America as the vice president and senior manager of the Seattle office of corporate treasury. After Bank of America, Phil served as treasurer and portfolio manager of a newly-public community bank that was eventually acquired by a national bank. Prior to joining Puget Sound Bank, Phil served as first vice president in Washington Mutual Bank’s operational risk management unit.
He serves on the board of directors of Elizabeth Gregory Home, an organization that provides transitional housing and a day center for homeless women in the Puget Sound region.
Phil holds an MBA from the University of Washington and an undergraduate degree from the University of Oregon.
